Hikers Welcome
At the Chester Hiker Hostel, we aim to enhance the Pacific Crest Trail experience by providing hospitality and essential support to hikers passing through Chester, the closest town to the trail's halfway point. Our mission is to foster community connections, create a welcoming destination, and contribute to the resilience and warmth of the region post Dixie Fire.
When you reach the halfway marker,
start thinking about Chester!

Getting to Chester

01
Hitch a Ride
Chester is an easy hitch where the PCT crosses HWY 36. Motorists are accustomed to seeing and assisting hikers all summer long.
02
By Public Transit

Lassen Rural Bus and Plumas Transit have been known to drop hikers off directly at the hostel when asked. The main bus stop for both rural transit lines is at Holiday Market on Main Street, approximately 1 mile from the Hostel. Use the online form to contact us for precise directions.

03
With Help from a Trail Angel
The Chester Trail Angels facebook group is a good place to connect with trail angels able to transport hikers to the hostel in Chester.
